HEAD/NECK ISSUES

HEAD/NECK ISSUES
Neck Pain
Stiffness and pain in the neck are among the most common reasons people see a chiropractor.
Dizziness or Vertigo
Integracare providers have access to unique training and resources for dizziness or vertigo care.

How can a Chiropractor Help with TMJ Disorders?
TMJ is acute or chronic inflammation in the temporomandibular joint where the jaw connects to the skull. TMJ dysfunction is often accompanied by pain and/or popping noises as the jaw opens and closes.
A chiropractor can loosen tight muscles that are associated with the jaw which can be contributors to pain and dysfunction. These include the masseter and temporalis muscles, which are responsible for closing the mandible; the medial pterygoid muscle, which is responsible for closing and lateral movements of the mandible; and the lateral pterygoid muscle, which is responsible for opening, deviation to either side, and anterior movement of the jaw. Adjusting the jaw and neck joints can also be helpful in restoring alignment to optimize function and alleviate pain.
How can a Chiropractor Help with Headaches?
Headaches come in different types including migraines, cluster, and tension headaches. Tension headaches are those caused by poor posture in the shoulders, neck, head, and jaw. Emotional stress can also inadvertently cause this too as it can trigger us to clench our muscles.
Whatever the type of headache, almost all of them have neck dysfunction as a contributing factor. A chiropractor is uniquely qualified to evaluate this common cause of headaches. I also evaluate for lifestyle factors such as stress, nutritional status, allergy, etc. Other methods used in my office in the treatment of headaches include acupuncture and exercise.

How can a Chiropractor Help with Neck Pain?
The neck can be sore or injured for numerous reasons, from a specific injury to a less obvious incident like poor posture or deterioration of cartilage caused by osteoarthritis.
Our chiropractors can evaluate your neck pain to determine the cause and formulate an effective treatment plan. This may include manipulation, soft tissue massage, exercise and stretching.
Don’t wait-give us a call and let’s help you get rid of that pain in your neck!
How can a Chiropractor Help with Dizziness or Vertigo?
Dizziness and Vertigo are often thought of as the same thing, but are quite different. Dizziness is a general, nonspecific feeling of being lightheaded or off-balance, while vertigo is a specific type of dizziness characterized by a sensation of spinning or movement
There are multiple causes for each which can include but not limited to dehydration, problems with blood pressure, neck stiffness, neck weakness, canalith positioning (“crystals”), and other more concerning issues.
Our chiropractors at Integracare are skilled in identifying the cause and either beginning treatment or referring to the correct specialty.

UPPER BODY ISSUES

UPPER BODY ISSUES
Scoliosis
Sideways curve of the spine, creating a “S” or “C” shape.Brief description in 1 sentence.
Constipation
Spinal misalignments and nerve interference can cause issues for the intestine.
Back Pain
Stiffness and pain in the back are among the most common reasons people see a chiropractor.
Carpal Tunnel
Compression on the median nerve in the wrist causes numbness and pain in the hand.

How can a Chiropractor Help with Scoliosis?
Scoliosis is defined as a curvature of the spine. It develops in adolescence as we grow and our spine changes. Often times there is no reason for scoliosis and is called “idiopathic” in the medical community
This is usually scary to be told you have. But don’t worry-the vast majority of scoliosis patients require no treatment and only monitoring. The chiropractors at Integracare will perform a thorough examination to include X-rays and determine if any treatment is indicated. This may include joint manipulation for mobility or spinal strengthening exercises. On rare occasions referral to an orthopedic surgeon is needed.
Again, most individuals require no treatment and only monitoring.
Give the clinic a call and we would be happy to answer your questions.
How can a Chiropractor Help with a Pinched Nerve?
A pinched nerve occurs when surrounding tissues such as bones, muscles, tendons, or cartilage apply excessive pressure to a nerve. This compression disrupts nerve function, leading to symptoms like pain, tingling, numbness, or weakness in the affected area. Pinched nerves commonly occur in the neck, back, or wrists (as in carpal tunnel syndrome) and can result from injury, poor posture, repetitive movements, or conditions like arthritis.
Chiropractors can adjust your spine as well as utilize soft tissue techniques to alleviate tension on the pinched nerve. Educating patients on stretching and proper posture can help reduce the risk or recurrence of a pinched nerve in the future.

How can a Chiropractor Help with Constipation?
Many patients who come in for lower back pain report improvement in constipation symptoms after a short course of treatment. There is a logical reason for this. The small intestine and colon have special nerve cells called ganglion cells that help with bowel movement. These nerve cells can be traced back to the spinal cord. This is how the interference from spinal dysfunction can affect intestinal motility.
In the office, this is most dramatically observed when parents bring in infants who haven’t had a bowel movement in 4-5 days or more. A gentle adjustment often leads to a major blowout in the car seat on the way home from the appointment!
I also recommend exercise, adequate fiber and water. Certain forms of magnesium are also helpful in many cases.
How can a Chiropractor Help with Back Pain?
Back pain can be very debilitating and scary. It can be from an obvious injury or happen “out of the blue”. There are multiple causes for back pain-sprain/strains, disc injuries, muscle spasm, arthritis, weakness, along with many others
Our chiropractors will take a thorough history and examination to determine the cause of your back pain. Rest assured, this is the most common condition we treat in the clinic, and we are well versed in diagnosis and treatment.
Stop living with your pain and give us a call, we will be happy to answer any questions.

How can a Chiropractor Help with Carpal Tunnel?
Compression on the median nerve in the wrist causes numbness and pain in the hand.
The carpal tunnel is a small passage in the wrist that contains the median nerve. When this nerve is compressed, the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome can arise.
A chiropractor can adjust multiple locations of the body that could relieve pressure on the median nerve. Being the median nerve travels all the way down the arm, adjustments near the shoulder may even be used alongside adjustments in the wrist or arm.

LOWER BODY ISSUES

LOWER BODY ISSUES
Muscle Strain
A muscle strain can happen anywhere in the body, resulting from overuse, stretching, or poor body mechanics.
Sciatica
Pain that radiates through the sciatic nerve that runs from the lower back through the gluteal region down each leg.

How can a Chiropractor Help with Hip Pain?
The hip is a ball and socket joint that can cause pain for a variety of reasons. This can either be due to pain within the hip itself (like with inflammation) or the pain can be caused by structures surrounding the hip.
When the spine/pelvis is out of alignment, it can create pain that radiates to other parts of the body – including the hips. With a chiropractic evaluation, a chiropractor can help determine the cause of the hip pain and see if an adjustment could help relieve this. Active support from the involve muscles is crucial and proper exercises are always part of my treatment recommendations.
How can a Chiropractor Help with Muscle Strain?
Overusing or stretching a muscle too far can cause a pulled muscle or a muscle strain. These strains can happen anywhere on the body, with the back and legs being the most common.
Symptoms can include pain, tightness, swelling, limited range of motion and bruising. After a thorough examination our chiropractors can formulate a treatment plan to treat your muscle injury. This may include soft tissue treatments such as massage, myofascial release or Active Release technique to increase blood flow to the damaged area. Additionally, our chiropractors can instruct on proper stretching and strengthening to speed recovery and prevent future injury.

How can a Chiropractor Help with Arthritis?
Arthritis, DJD, “wear and tear”. You have heard these terms many times. What is arthritis and what to do about it?
There are multiple types of arthritis with osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis being among the most common. Arthritis can cause joint pain, swelling, stiffness, and limited movement in the affected joints. It tends to worsen as we age, and many people feel that they have to “live with it”
Chiropractic care is very effective in reducing pain and stiffness, and allowing for improved function. Combined with an effective exercise program, we can help get you back to doing what you love!
Stop learning to live with the pain and give us a call
How can a Chiropractor Help with Sciatica?
The Sciatic nerve starts in your lower back and runs all the way down your leg to your toes. This nerve is the longest nerve in the human body and can be quite painful when “pinched” or irritated. Other symptoms can include numbness or weakness
There are multiple causes of sciatica which can include disc bulges, tight muscles, arthritis or stenosis
The chiropractors at Integracare will take a thorough history and examination to determine the cause of your sciatica. We will then formulate a treatment plan which may include manipulation, stretching or strengthening exercise, traction or referral as needed. If imaging is indicated we can take X-rays or obtain MRI’s to help with your diagnosis.
Sciatic pain is one of the most common conditions we treat at Integracare. Don’t just deal with pain, get evaluated and start living life again!
