Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) Awareness Month has been recognized each April since 1997. IBS is estimated to affect about 15% of the United States population. Women are diagnosed twice as often as men.
This month is critical for highlighting IBS and encouraging those who may be affected to seek a medical diagnosis. Of the 15% of the US population believed to be living with IBS, a significant portion are not diagnosed. If you have bowel issues, speak to your provider.
