Greater Trochanteric Bursitis is an inflammation of fluid-filled sacs (bursa) found around the hip area. When this becomes irritated, it results in hip pain. What is this caused by? Repetitive stress, not using proper form when exercising, acute injuries just to name a few. Often times, there is pain associated on the outside of the hip that can be sensitive to the touch.
