What are Shin Splints & Where Do They Come From?

Shin splints can be both painful and confusing. This injury is most commonly a result of running, high impact activities or faulted mechanics – such as flat feet, unsupportive shoes or the need for orthotics. The pain from shin splints is caused by the muscle that attaches to the bone on the front of your shin; when you have a shin splint if pulls away from the bone and causes irritation, similar to tendonitis.
