Careful How You Carry Your Kids
Have you ever thought about how you’re carrying your kids around? Some of us don’t think twice - we bend over, hoist them up, and carry on with our day – but that’s quite a load to carry, depending on the size of your child. Let’s start with babies. There are many things to consider when you choose a carrier for your little one – both for you and for the baby. Some carriers can actually put pressure on your baby's back and hips and we certainly don’t want that! One tip that can help is not holding your baby carrier facing forward; always carry it with the baby facing you. This puts your baby’s hips in a squat, or comfortable position for them, and keeps the center of gravity forward for you. As your child grows and begins to pay more attention to what you’re doing, it is also important that they face you when you carry them so that they don’tcrank their neck to see you. Also consider using a carrier that is strapped to your body for optimal body position. Tune is as Doctor of Chiropractic, Kjersten Jones explains how you can care for both you and your baby better simply in the way you carry them.
