Jennifer Peterson, CNP

Jennifer is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner who joined Williams Integracare in January 2016.  Jennifer is certified through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners to see patients across the lifespan from children to the elderly.  Jennifer easily makes connections with patients to help them identify their healthcare needs and goals with a caring, holistic approach to their healthcare needs.

Jennifer earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in 1998 from the College of St. Benedict.  As a registered nurse Jennifer worked in a variety of areas including acute care, oncology, homecare/hospice, perioperative nursing and QI/risk management.  She is a certified perioperative nurse through the American Association of Perioperative Nurses. Her passion for nursing led her to pursue an advanced degree in nursing. She graduated from Concordia University Wisconsin in 2013 with a Master’s degree in nursing and her family nurse practitioner certification. She is currently finishing her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree through Concordia University Wisconsin with plans to graduate in December 2016.  She is an active member of Sigma Theta Tau honor society for nurses, AORN, American Association of Nurse practitioners and the National League for Nursing.

Her Love for Teaching and Lifelong Learning

In addition to her clinical practice, Jennifer enjoys inspiring future generations of nurses through her faculty role at the College of St. Benedict/St. John’s University. Jennifer has worked as a faculty member at the College of St. Benedict/St. John’s University since 2011 and enjoys being able to share her passion for caring for patients with her students. She has been recognized for her accomplishments in her teaching effectiveness and commitment with a faculty recognition award received while working as a faculty member at Rasmussen College in 2010. Jennifer enjoys the sense of purpose she feels by helping her students pursue and achieve their goals of becoming a registered nurse and the care these students will provide to countless patients and families.

Why a Family Nurse Practitioner?

From a young age, Jennifer has had a love for nursing and caring for others. Through many different experiences in life, she found herself surrounded by caregivers who provided compassion and empathy for her and her family. These experiences provided comfort and security to her family and in turn, she is now able to provide this same type of care to her patients. What she loves most about family practice is the ability to personalize care for each person. At Williams Integracare, she is able to bring her personal experiences full circle in the care she provides to her patients. There is nothing more satisfying for Jennifer than to see a patient overcome an obstacle that once seemed impossible. She enjoys walking down each unique path with her patients, every step of the way.

Jennifer specializes in the following areas:

  • Family health, women’s health, and geriatric patients
  • Health promotion and disease prevention

Running Life (On Her Feet & With Her Family)

During her Master’s program, Jennifer discovered her love for running. She is always working toward her next personal goal and is hoping to complete a full marathon someday.  When not working at Williams Integracare, Jennifer loves to remain active running in a local 5K, assisting with her childrens' sporting activities or spending time outdoors. She can often be seen on the sidelines of her sons’ basketball games or her daughters' dance competitions. She is an active volunteer at her children’s schools and in the community. Jennifer has been married to her husband Brett for 17 years and has four children: Claire, Charlie, Greta, and Olivier. Family is important to Jennifer and remains the driving purpose behind the care she strives to provide for her patients.

What Jennifer loves most about the Williams Integracare Clinic setting. It's the close relationships and connections she makes with her patients, having the same impact in those lives as she has felt in hers from the caregivers she’s been surrounded by. Jennifer sees babies, seniors, and everyone in between.
